Cactus Wren

The cactus wren was adopted by Arizona as the state bird in 1973.

The cactus wren measures seven to eight inches in length. It likes to build nests in the protection of thorny desert plants like the arms of the giant saguaro cactus. Although the cactus wren builds many nests, it uses all but one as decoys.
