According to military casualty information sources, the Somalia enforcement operation, known as Restore Hope, took the lives of 31 Army personnel. In addition, there were 176 military personnel wounded. The names of most of the lost military personnel are unavailable.
This loss of life was the result of the UN enforcement activities that the United States volunteered to support. Over 30 American servicemen and servicewomen died in a country with which we had no direct conflict. The numbers of civilians lost during the conflict is unavailable.
